Where this
began.

The Pham Foundation Scholarship — Quảng Ngãi began first as an act of family gratitude.

Phạm Huệ

Phạm Huệ · TQT 1965–1975

At its heart, this scholarship honors Phạm Huệ, who taught literature at Trần Quốc Tuấn High School from 1965 to 1975. During those years, Trần Quốc Tuấn was not simply a school. It was one of the most important educational institutions in Quảng Ngãi, and teachers there helped shape the minds and character of an entire generation.

Phạm Huệ gave part of his life to that school. He taught, encouraged, and influenced students who would go on to build families, serve their communities, and carry the values of education forward. Long after he left the classroom, many of his former students remembered him with affection and respect.

After immigrating to the United States, Phạm Huệ never forgot Trần Quốc Tuấn. For years, quietly and without recognition, he and his family sent small scholarships back to support students in need. This scholarship continues that spirit. It is our family's way of honoring his years of service, his love for education, and his lasting connection to the school.

The scholarship also represents the shared commitment of Scott H. Pham and Tammy T. Duong. For Scott, this program carries forward his father's example of quiet giving and respect for education. For Tammy, it honors the school that helped shape her own life as a student.

Finally, this scholarship recognizes the deep connection of the Duong family to Trần Quốc Tuấn. Tammy's mother, Nguyen Thi Luong Thien, was once a student of Phạm Huệ. Tammy's father, Duong Thanh Dinh, was also a student at Trần Quốc Tuấn — Class of 1976 — and carries a quiet pride in that connection to this day. Their daughters, Duong Thi Ngoc Thu and Duong Thi Ngoc Tam, later became students of the same school. Across generations, the Duong family's story has been tied to Trần Quốc Tuấn through learning, memory, and gratitude.

For these reasons, the scholarship is more than a financial award. It is a family giving back to a school that helped shape both sides of our story.

Why Permanent

The school will
always be there.

Trần Quốc Tuấn has stood for generations. It will stand for generations more. The endowment is built on that confidence — that the school will keep producing students and teachers worthy of recognition long after any of us are here to see it.

Students and teachers know that recognition is coming — every year, reliably — because people who walked those halls, or whose families did, chose to make it permanent. That certainty is the gift. The money is the mechanism.
